Take a tour of Brickell

If you’re new to Brickell Miami, a great option over the weekend is to take a self guided walking tour. Following your own tour is easier on your wallet and timeline, not to mention it can be tailored to what you’re personally interested in. Highlights of Brickell include the Brickell bridge, a drawbridge that is useful for foot traffic to cross the water or walk along the canal. Brickell Avenue leads to Brickell park and along the way you can see the newly built Icon Tower. Brickell park has a great view of Brickell Key and is a nice place to enjoy the weather within the neighborhood. Finally, you can walk along the Miami River, where Brickell meets Downtown Miami. There are amazing views here and is a useful landmark for one of the boundaries of the
Brickell Miami neighborhood, near Brickell City Centre.

Ride the Metromover

If you’d rather ride to tour Brickell Miami, the Metromover has a Brickell loop that takes you into the heart of the neighborhood. This loop moves south to 14th street which is basically in the middle of Brickell. Those that are new to the Metromover should remember that the loops are infinite, and if you miss your stop there’s another soon to follow. You can always ride the loop back to your starting point and there are maps for your convenience. One of the best parts about riding the Brickell loop is the unique view from above you get of the whole neighborhood, plus it’s faster than walking the blocks to reach your destination. For out-of-towners it’s a great way to see the city. For locals, using the Metromover means you won’t have to worry about street traffic or finding parking.

Dine at Mary Brickell Village

There are plenty of dining opportunities within the Brickell neighborhood, but one that everyone should visit is in Mary Brickell Village. The village is located near the Tenth Street Promenade station and is home to Perricone’s, a local dining favorite. Highlights of Perricone’s include an outdoor patio and the view of Brickell park complete with shady Brickell trees. But there’s far more than that, with local staples like Blue Martini, Opa, Jimmy’s and Fado, plus new establishments taking root all the time.
If you’re looking for something to do in Brickell Miami over the weekend there’s plenty to see from the Miami River, Metromover, and Mary Brickell Village. Even if you only visit one, Brickell is a great neighborhood and will keep you busy all day between the local history, new hot spots, and brilliant new construction.
